Financial assistance is available.

Thanks to the generosity of  The Noble Foundation and The Wayne County Community Foundation we have established a significant  financial aid fund that will allow us to provide tuition assistance for financially-challenged adults and children.

“The arts are so valuable and enjoyable that we want everyone in Wayne County to experience them.  I am very grateful to the Boards of The Noble Foundation and The Wayne County Community Foundation for their generous support of our effort to make arts education more accessible.  Families of limited means, both children and adults, may apply for assistance.  We will help as many qualified applicants as the funds will allow,”  commented Bill Buckingham, executive director of the Wayne Center for the Arts.

This is the first time that such a large sum of money has been donated and dedicated to making the Arts Center’s classes available to those who might otherwise not be able to afford them, and it is a collaboration that reflects the genuine commitment to helping others that The Wayne County Community Foundation and The Noble Foundation have made.

“The object of this program is to give people who are somewhat less fortunate the same opportunity to take art or clay or dance classes as other members of the community,” said David Noble, president of The Noble Foundation.

“It is my hope that as many people as can benefit from this scholarship will take the opportunity to enjoy what the Wayne Center for the Arts has to offer them,” he added.

“There’s no question that this community is extremely generous with their dollars, their time and their talents and it is dedicated to civic pride and social conscience,” said Ferenc Relle, Jr., executive director of The Wayne County Community Foundation.

“The Wayne County Community Foundation is committed to funding programs and organizations that make long lasting impressions, and that is something to which the Wayne Center for the Arts is certainly dedicated,” Relle added.

Financial assistance will be awarded to Wayne County residents, adults and children, to enroll in one Arts Center program or class per semester up to three per calendar year. This also includes funding for workshops, summer camps and Children’s Chorus, and it will also pay for any required materials costs. Award decisions will be made by the Wayne Center for the Arts in compliance with the Financial Aid Policy

Financial aid will be awarded throughout the year as long as funds are available.

Income Eligibility

Financial aid awards and amounts will be determined based on family income and family size.

The current year’s Federal Poverty Guidelines will be used to determine the size of the financial aid (see below.)

2007 Federal Poverty Guidelines

Family 200% OF POVERTY

Size Annual Household Income Financial aid Amount

       1      $0 -$20,420      100%

        2     20,421 – 27,380 100%

       3     27,381 - 34,340 100%

       4     34,341 - 41,300 100%

       5     41,301 - 48,260 100%

       6    48,261 - 55,220 100%

       7    55,221 - 62,180 100%

      8   62,181 - 69,140 100%

For every $1000 over the upper limit for a given family size, the financial aid will be reduced by 10%. As an example, a family of 4 with a

reported income of $43,000 would result in a 10% reduction in the total financial aid given.

The Wayne Center for the Arts reserves the right to ask for proof of annual income of any applicant.

Financial Aid Award Process

The applicant will receive a letter informing them of the application's approval or denial.

If the financial aid is less than the stated price for the class, the applicant will be required to pay the balance at the time of registration.

Award of financial aid does not automatically register or reserve room in a class for the recipient.

Recipient is responsible for registering for their class, summer camp, etc.

Course Registration

Recipients should refer to our current course catalog or summer camp brochures when registering.

When registering, the award letter must be submitted to the Arts Center Front Desk staff.
